Sudan: Country's Silent War for a Secular Nation - The Monitor

On February 25, the Sudan Liberation Movement (SLM), a rebel group from Darfur led by Abdel Wahid Al Nur, announced it was opening an office in Tel Aviv. Al-Nur said given the fact that the Israeli government had been protecting youths from Darfur from genocide, it's those Darfur escapees, now grown up who led the drive to open an office in Tel Aviv.

I just want to share with you an article I wrote in Sudan Tribune Daily Newpaper(Khartoum)about the government's reaction against Abdulwahid Nur upon opening an Office in ISRAEL.

What a Pity It is being circulated that the move taken by Abdulwahid Nur is triggering a wave of public reaction all over the country and that his move is causing security threats to the unity of the Nile Valley, the Red Sea and the African Horn; it is further stated that Mr. Nur is causing more harm to Sudan in general and Darfur in particular. I believe it is good to be more concern with the affairs of our country and any group of people or an individual is free to react the way he or they think is justified. But one thing remains; Adulwahid is already a rebel or an outlaw for that matter, so all of us in the country have no authority over him. Secondly which is more important the unity of the Nile Valley or citizens of Darfur who are categorically being killed daily yet no one dare to openly condemn those committing atrocities there? Abdulwahid has a case, he is fighting for the people of Darfur who are being deprived by their own government and forced to live in displaced and refugee camps to date. Why can't these good politicians and their followers do something to rescue the people of Darfur ? The unity of the Nile Valley means nothing to the Sudanese majority if that is only done in order to deprive the Africans from their rights in their own habitats. What important political move has the members of the Nile Valley done to bring an end to the ragging war in Darfur ? Why should we only think of foreigners and ignore our own brothers who are being marginalized and kill like dogs while the survivors are left to suffer in the wilderness? It is a waste of time shouting against Abulwahid Nur when we have the Jangaweed who are worst than the Israelites; after all there are no records that the Israelites have ever confronted the Sudanese ever since Sudan have become a nation years ago; yet we shout loud against them 'Israelites' for having done nothing wrong to Sudanese. Instead the Israelites now have done a good thing by accommodating the very Darfurians chased away by those who claim to unite the Nile Valley populations and more concerned with the horn of African than saving the lives of those at home; this is just a mockery. If our politicians and citizens recent Israel then let them try their best to stop the killings of the innocent in Darfur; it is now five years and none have been active to bring peace to Darfur and just when Abulwahid begin to seek for help else where he is supposed to be condemned, what a pity? What have our concerned brothers and neighbours done to save Darfur from the hands of the brutal vampires? To me the new political move by Abdulwahid should not be undermined simply because Israel is treated as a deadly enemy by others in Sudan . It can be true that no one will also change what he had already decided to do. If we really mean peace then there is no need to grumble but to seek ways and means of bringing an end to Darfur conflicts. We are not longer in the 60s when many were politically blind and were easily deceived? Many are now politically conscious and can challenge any aggressor no matter the cost in lives or material. However there is a golden chance for peace dialogue otherwise it would be too late when most of the youth disappear one day in the near future and join their parents in wilderness; that would be like adding fuel to the fire and no one will easily stop them when at that end. Who can deny the barbarian like acts of the Jangaweed who terrorize all the villages in the wilderness, kill loot, burn houses and what ever they disliked; killing any one who dare challenge them; those condemning Israel should contrast this brutality to Abdulwahid who is seeking a save heaven for his people; and find out for your selves who among the two are for the people of Darfur, the Jangaweed or the rebel groups? Sometimes what we air publicly does not represent the majority of Sudanese public opinion other than satisfying the greed of the very enemies of peace who keep on torturing the weak in the name of the unity of the country! What explanation is there for the people of Darfur in being bombarded from the air, with the army attacking on the ground on one hand and the Jangaweed on the other; even if it was claimed that these attacks were targeted on the rebels but what happened to the villages, who burn them? If so how do we then condemn some body that is after those who could help his people who are categorically being wiped out on the face of the earth? Abdulwahid can be convinced to join the peace makers when his people are not being killed any more at least that is what he says! And he is right, stop killing the innocent and we shall have no fear of Israel ! But if we continue to kill then those we fear will be justified to come in and do the cleaning!
