There is little awareness on the problem of trafficking in persons, mainly women and children, in Angola, and no laws for cracking down on the growing phenomenon.
First we must put a final to end the enslavement of the individual victims of human trafficking.
There should be free local phone numbers advertised everywhere with counsellors talking calls 24/7. These counsellors should have access to a special person in law enforcement.
The people who have been trafficked spend so much time hiding, fearing detection by the police, that they will not trust anyone now. They have to be given understanding along with reassurances that they will not just be locked up in a jail somewhere.
They will need to build up a relationship of trust with a counsellor. Then the police could be alerted to the places where they are working, as sex slaves or work slaves. These hells should be raided and the victims rescued, and the perpetrators imprisoned. Throw away the key!
