Rwanda Media Ethics Commission (RMEC), a peer evaluation arm of Rwanda Journalists ...
Much as i find the article by the Umuco News paper highly inaccurate and unprofessional, the action taken their after to ban it is equally unfortunate and unnecessary. The wittings by the umuco scribe didn't deserve the action and attention accredited to it.His opinion of M.r Kagame as a modern Hitler can only be dismissed by any right thinking mind as that of a person keen on attaining cheap Popularity. The Rwanda Media Ethics Commission only succeeded in helping him get that cheap popularity he wanted, before long he will be another statistic of Asylum seekers apparently fleeing political persecution from a "repressive regime".Sometimes in deference is the only solution to the emptiness of such cheap politicking. By banning the UMUCO publication, the always struggling publication got the popularity it had never dreamed of in its short life of existence.Within 24 hours of its banning, a copy of UMUCO had doubled in price rising out of its sudden increase in demand.Even the average Rwandese who hardly buys a news paper finally found reason to buy one.Ironically had the Rwanda Media Ethics Commission not taken that unnecessary step of banning it,or Police searching for the Editors of the Publication ,the un fortunate article would have passed un noticed.
