Kudos to Gov. Fashola for his successful constant endeavor to improve the quality of life in Lagos area showing an understanding of his responsibility to the people - he already introduced the minicipal bus system successfully and he is striving to elimnate or curtail the insecurity and the deteriorating personal safety concerns in Lagos area. If the ruling and lawmaking Senate and NNA members could have been able to boast of having 10% of the members with an understanding and sense of responsibity as demonstrated by Gov. Fashola, Nigeria would have been different - moving forward instead of retrogressing. With thousands of new legislations required to move the country forward, the lawmakers apparently have no clew of what is at stake and they have made the probing of the decisions of the former administration, which could have been departmental, ministerial and law enforcement issue, their main contribution to the country. It is very difficult to understand that while some rulers show to the world that they know what it takes to move the country forward, there are, in the same country and polity, many governors who believe just in stealing millions of dollars of state money. It is worse than appalling to listen to one or more of the ruling politicians in the country praising the administration of Gen. Abacha who stole probably over $20b of state money and deposited them in Europe. Is there still hope for the country?
