Incessant strikes have become part of the School curriculum in Nigeria to keep students longer in school to learn more at the expense of parents, false because nothing has shown that it is true. But a plausible theory that has been espoused for this education deterrent is two fold; a. Equating Strikes like the Malthusian theory on economics - Influence on population effort that result in deliberate prevention of pregnancy and the act of war to reduce human population. B. Incessant Strikes - Is a deliberate formula designed by the Nigerian political and educational leaders to slow down the rate of influx of graduate on the unemployment line? The truth is that the Government State or Federal had no clue or plan to engage the influx of students from the numerous Universities they embarked upon. Our education is a utilitarian type it does not encourage entrepreneurship living the Government as the sole employer where as small business is the main employer in the developed nations. To slow down the influx of graduating students into the workforce the government deliberately gives a blind eye to the incessant strikes.
The Beneficiaries of the strikes are the government, college administrators, and the lecturers. To be honest I do not see anything in the horizon that would stop incessant strikes until politician change the way business is done in Nigeria. The Nigeria environment is over regulated making it difficult for both foreign and local business to blossom. Corruption is equally a key ingredient of unemployment because the fund assigned to projects winds up in the hand of politicians. Case in point Iyabo-Obasanjo-Bello and her team of bandits went across country to Ghana to share their loots in the name of retreat. What a heck in havens name do we need retreat for when the Nigerian people are living in squalor? Students, I feel your pains but you go figure.
