Two local tabloids have reported in Freetown this week that paramount chief Rashid Kamanda Bongay of Kakua chiefdom in Bo district has asked the provincial secretary, Lansana Koroma to help enhance the quick removal of the sitting magistrate in the southern town of Bo, his worship, Adrian Fischer.
This is dis-speakable to hear this sort of event happening.Sierra Leone as far as i know is a Democratic state as so far as the laws, are their to protect each and every sierra leonean from whatever tribe you belong to amoungst the 16 ethnic tribe.Been a democartic country i believed the 'Rule Of Law'should always previle.Supremacy of the law,Equality before the law and The Fundamental Human Right. If the Sub-chief is been charged for a crime, why should he not stand before the court of law to prove himself innocent.Gone are those days when we have protected species that think they can do whatever they like and go free. Why should the President be involved in such matters?I believe we have three Arms of Government. The Executive, judiciary and the Legisture, the President should make it very clear to them that he does not belong to that part of the Government and therefore, they should refer the matter to the Judiciary with a written complaint.I really dont see any reason for that anyway. Those Chiefs that even walk into the court with their protest should have been charged with Comptent of court and should be arrested. My last visit in that country early this year was full of disappointment with the degree of LAW-LESS-NESS.Never in the history of that country, even during the war such behaviour was never wittness.I believed the President should be VERY FIRM when it comes to taken decission,at least he will go down in the History book as the ONLY APC Head of State that was very firm and Resolute in decission making.I dont believe the Head line of this aticle should be "A test case for the president" if only sierra leoneans believed they need to changed their ATTITUDE for a better Sierra Leone.
As a sierra leonean i am saden to know that this type of habits is still on going ie no justice for the poor.have we forgotton so soon about what lead us to a senseless ten years brutal war.Mr Persident, you must remember you where elected on the bases of equality within the governing constitution of the land. whem you came to power, your message to the people of sierra leone is to change our attitudes. so nar, is a time to let us know if yours has changed Adams
