This very laughable round-about turn by the Nigerian Senate is typical of the present day governance in Nigeria. A few weeks ago after an internal enquiry by the Senate, Iyabo Obasanjo was cleared of any wrong doing for accepting N330m from the ministry to pay for hotel and miscellaneous bills to attend an official duty for the ministry in Ghana. By the way, Iyabo Obasanjo is, supposedly, not the only senator that got the same amount to attend the same ministry official duty but, being the daughter of the former president who created the EFCC to stop corruption in the country, she has to be victimized to show her father that the EFCC that has been modified by the new administratrion can be used against him and his family. The Senate has decided to tell the whole world that THEIR ORIGINAL DECISION AND DECLARATION ON IYABO, LIKE MOST OF THEIR DECISIONS, ARE NOT TRUST WORTHY AND SHOULD BE REGARDED AS INVALID. This shows the level of competence of the Senate. This is typical of the present polity in Nigeria. Seemingly, it is easier for the camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for the country to move forward in the atmospher of such an abyss of ineptitude. THE WORLD IS WATCHING!

Senator Adamu Aliero thanks but no thanks because what you are saying is that first there is no coordination between the two arms of government. Second that you believed Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello first before the EFCC. Does it mean that the EFCC did not brief the Senate about the facts of the matter? Iyabo is not an institution and should be subjected to the same eye of the law that the Minister and her deputy were treated.

This welcome and un-welcome renunciation of your unalloyed support for Iyabo after many Nigerians have come out in mass to question your [Senate] credibility cast a huge doubt in the minds of Nigerians. The Integrity group of the House Rep. was forthright and eloquent in the case of Ms. Etteh but at the end they prevailed and Nigeria won.

With a few exceptions many members of the Senate are indebted to former President Mathew O. Obasanjo hence you are tap dancing around the facts. I have said it before and I am repeating it unless David Mark vacates his role as the Senate President he is likely to drag the senate to the mud. David should have been David Mark-Obasanjo because the former President installed him as the Senate President to create a safe heaven after he left office. If the Senate is serious let them handover Iyabo to EFCC otherwise it is Deja vu and it is not acceptable to the Nigerian people.
