The Eritrean people's fortitude in overcoming the myriad of trials to achieve unity and harmony is comparable to only few peoples in the history of the world.
The Eritrean people is truly a great people. No one would deny the suffering and the sacrifice this courageous people paid for independence and sovereignty. Every Eritrean family lost at least one son or daughter in the war between Ethiopia and Eritrea, but I know some family who lost eight of their children and after Eritrean independence, this family didn't even regret it: it was worth the sacrifice. Of course we all know these facts and we all are proud to have contributed to the creation of a land we could call our land, our village, our country without domination by anyone. How about now? Now, people regret the sacrifice of that poor country. - We wanted to see a country where our kids would be happy, we see a country where our kids are killed by diseases, and dangerous adventurers or foreign police while trying to escape to the Sudan, or if lucky they can reach Egypt and Israel but the risk is as great. - We wanted to see a democratic country where the people would live in peace, we made a country with no democracy and no liberty, no freedom of speech and a country where every Eritrean dreams of escaping somewhere else - From a colonized country with its people dispersed around the world we made a dictatorship with a new pattern of dispersion of the people around the world. - From being extremely proud of the achievement of our country we became nomadic people without country (a country monopolized by Isayas and his followers). Of course we should have known from the outcome what Eritrea under Isayas would be. He always has been very clear in his intention: To liberate the country from colonialism, we need a united front incorporating all classes of Eritrea. Once we reach independence we need to get reed of the majority and keep the small dominant class or liberate the people from their back warded mind i.e. Political reeducation. Aren’t there some remnants ideas of Pol Pot of Cambodia? Of course Pol Pot killed millions of people because the country was more populated than Eritrea, but would Isayas stop to such considerations if need be?
Being Eritrean could made this comment of mine seem a bit biased but the enlightenment I have received by going through all odds of my country has endowed me with the courage to listen to my instinct which is citizen-less!
If we could read now and again all the vocabularies used in erecting this confession-like EDITORIAl,at last I have learnt our ISAYAS AFEWERKI is demising!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Especially, this paragraph could tell a lot about him cos he used the same word in time of emprisoning the G-15:
.....However, this does not mean there are not a few thorns growing among the lush fields of wheat. Even among a people as unique as the Eritreans, there are a few who might seek to advance themselves by working against the greater good of everyone. Nonetheless, the Eritrean people are not overly concerned with this, for their experience by far surpasses such hiccups....
This paragraph coincides with the ' Philosophy of Perception' which says ' We say what is inside of us, we see what we want to see, we walk to where we want, we remember what we want to recall'. Hence, such vocabularies ' few thorns, working against the greater good of everyone, surpasses such hiccups' are words of suiciding soul, despairing individual, dying mind.....ISAYAS!!!!!!!!!!!!
