The second round of Zimbabwe's presidential election will be delayed yet again, raising new questions over whether the opposition will take part.
I am not surprised to hear this and well I appaud the UN putting the pressure on Mugabe and his regime. South Africa's government shopuld be ashamed of itself for joing China and Russia for blocking UN intervention. That alone should tell you Mbeki is partial to Mugabe so remove him from having any part in the mediation talks. The longer this goes on the more everyone is assured that Mugabe is at work to ensure he wins the election which many have known for a long time. So the time for talking has come and gone now it is a time to show action. If Mugabe had any honor he would have already stepped down but we all know he is a selfish, uncaring and abusive tyrant who could care less about Zimbabwe it's people. He only wants the power to continue to get rich while the people of Zimbabwe starve. So any of you who think of Mugabe as a hero who liberated Zimbabwe well now open your eyes b/c now he has destroyed Zimbabwe so the past is irrevelant now. Look at the now and stand up for the people of Zimbabwe b/c many know Mugabe has paid off several leaders(Mbeki) so of course they are backing him.

The issue of doing things according to law creates a very interesting phenomenon. On one hand Chinamasa says all issues should be done according to the laws of Zimbabwe.Fair enough, especially if those laws are seen to be in favour of his intensions. On the other hand ZEC Chairman,Chiweshe, says some laws are unrealistic. All these are laws of Zimbabwe, designed and approved by Zimbabweans,to serve Zimbabweans. Pafunge!
If the re run is extended to beyond the 25 May then surely Morgan Tsvangirai should be acting President from the 26 May. Would it be legal for Bob who came in second to rule just because he thinks he should?
Let us not wish for things that never happen. People usually desire eliminating reality and assume their wishful dreams will come true. Open your eyes and visualize. PRESIDENT MUGABE the tried and tested rigid leader who will not allow such events to occur. There is no way Tsvangirai is going to be acting president nor be the president after the 25th of May. Our nation and sovereignty are well protected by the current leader. If he has to play tricks to make sure that he protects the country, let that happen. After all, the 29th of March election were not free and because they were held under sanctions which were used to deviate people's vision just to make them vote for the white colonial oppressors.
You call what Mugabe is doing, "playing tricks"? I think you are a master/mistress of understatement if you call what happened in Matebeleland a mere trick. One day maybe he and Charles Taylor may share a cell to talk about their, "tricks". As for tried and tested, he certainty has tried and on current performance he's failed the test. I read an article yesterday talking about the civil service wage bill and the payments to, "war-veterans" in terms of QUADRILLIONS OF DOLLARS. Some alleged war vets appear to be a little young to even remember the war. Mugabe is yet another tin-pot dictator attempting to re-write history. He acts as a liberator when the country was already liberated. If you recall the British did as much to get rid of smiths regime as anyone did and probably with more effect. There was no great war of liberation just a greedy little power struggle between egos. I didn't actually see any white colonial oppressors running in the elections kudzaidururu but Mugabe says so therefore it must be true? Get a clue.
Kudzai. why then wasting resources on elections if President Mugabe is the only leader who can rule Zimbambwe. I can see that you are a true Zanu-PF member but I think we should accept the changes for the benefit of all Zimbambweans. The white colonial oppressors left Zimbambwe 28 years ago and now they might be laughing at us because it is like we cant do without them. Everything that go wrong in Southern Africa it is blamed on colonial oppressions. Or maybe democracy is just unAfrican!
Mwatile Ndinoshiho, do not lose hope. African democracy is very much at play by the majority who voted for fair play and change in Zimbabwe.
This is getting a wee bit farcical and really grating on the nerves of a battered people. After waiting for the MDC to announce its decision on the run-off they now turn around and say it can't be held- the law is an ass- so they tell us.
What was the purpose of engineering a run-off if there was no money to run it? And as a responsible government, as it would want us to believe, shouldn't contingency measures have been put in place for such an eventuality? Mugabe & Co are behaving as if they have not lost an election and those who allege Mugabe treats his people worse than animals can be forgiven for this extreme view especially in light of this newest development. I have never seen such intense contempt for everything decent concentrated in one man!!!
It is also clear they are playing at wearing the MDC down, outflanking it and thus showing up its political immaturity. MDC should abandon its naivety and realize it is up against masters of obfuscation and deceit. And the asinine demands by Chinamasa that Western sanctions be removed before the run-off simply goes to show Zimbabwe is saddled by a bunch of dim-wits who are long past their use by date.
The MDC has one choice, to do what Chimanamasa says they must do but only to ensure that maximum international pressure is applied on these racial bigots and inveterate liars. MDC must now launch an all out diplomatic blitzkrieg worldwide - and close every breathing hole still open to ZANU- go for total diplomatic isolation and do not give any quarter for there, I am convinced lies Zimbabwe's salvation not the ballot box.
If you have any strategists in your ranks, then point them outside not inside-its house full and ZANU is slowly shutting the door on you.
Its interesting that a law that has been in place for such a long time is only being seen as unrealistic now. Does this mean that the drafters acted irresponsibly, what about the parliament that subsequently approved and endorsed the legislation. Was everyone sleeping in their jobs not to notice the irrationality of the provision!!!!! This just proves that the current government will not be stopped by any force even laws that it sanctioned in the past!
the thing is if Mr Mugabe had won all this woulnt be necessary, but the old man lost and his inner party members realized that if the old man leaves they lose all they have. We as Africans and our leaders must strive to better ourselves, we have the resources we have the manpower but we need good government. The runoff date being delayed and so forth was expected. The run-off isnt going to be free and fair. There will be bloodshed and all we can do is pray that God watches over us, our relatives. God Bless Africa. Kuda Nembaware NembaCorpInc.
