Firstly there's no proof that US$21m was given to MDC by "the west". In fact, if it's written in the Herald it's far more likely to be a lie than truth.

It's the idea that someone with pretentions of being a serious journalist is sitting there so proud of the story they made up and thinking, "Oh yeah this bit of fiction is gonna get me a Pulitzer!" convinced that people are going to count it as fair and unbiased news.
