Former Head of State, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd), has said that he was confident that the sector probe in the House of Representatives would lead to a lasting solution in the power sector.
What is this man IBB looking for as a matter of fact he should be part of the on going probe into is fruitless 8 year tenure that say wantom disregard for the rule of law, general disobedience in the populace, breech of civil orderliness, unimaginable institutionilizing of corruption, arson, nepotism and killings of the innocent.
How can Nigerians forget what happened to the gulf war windfalls. His ill gotten wealth must be probed and he must never be allowed to run for elections because of his weak past records. He believe so much in his wealth that he thinks he can buy any Nigerian for a named price. Maybe not me, you can only speak for yourself! .
Nigeria needs now people of integrity and people that can move it forward hello! Babangida just don't fit this discription period! He's got to account for the killings of productive Nigerian like Maman Vatsa, Martin Luther, chief Awolowo(we know about his last visit to dodan baracks was the move),Aare MKO Abiola, Hercules plane crash and military victims, bad publisity for Nigeria all over the world...... the list is endless.
This man must be thoroughly probed and punished(striped of all of Nigerian money that he's using against it and jailed for all his crimes) by the collective effort of well meaning Nigerians. If Obasanjo can be probed who says Babangida cannot he is not a sacred cow neither is Nigeria wealth his birth right. His stewardship has only seen Nigeria move backwards 40 years which is why today despite our recent giant strides the effects have only been nothing but minute to an average Nigerian. The society of Nigeria has become rotten and confused only because of him. Instead of moving the nation forwared the delve in tribal and religious politics to divide and rule the population, so we've only seen that our collective effect is the true tale of our success in Nigeria.
Nigerians wake up from your slumber, the military are trying to turn Nigerian polity into a relay race for their selfish ends. Babangida is top on this list, he must be told that his so-call evil ingenuity will catch up with him this time. Fellow Nigerains lets challenge the sincerity of President Yaradua on the huge tasks ahead not only in infrastructure provision but also other details such as capturing all the rogues that have been stealing nigerian money($400 billion unaccounted for since independence) as Mallam Ribadu has been doing. In a nu shell, the challenge for Mr President is transparency and respecter no criminal whether small or big like Babangida in order to nip this monster in the bud before he wakes again.
Nigerians continue to show discernment and see that contrary to politicians approach, being your brothers keeper(compatriot)irrespective of tribal and religious affiliations is the only road to our collective progress as a nation. We have allowed politicians to usurp this far too long for their selfish gains whilst we as people are left destitute. Nigerian now is your time! God will ask you what on your part have you done? What you must do? Don't sell your concience to dirty politicians for votes. always rise up against wrong and fight against impostors like Babagida without let-up. Finally, stand always for the truth.
The probe of Obasanjo's administration should indeed be thorough with recorded facts and figures shown to the world. However, the pobe by this administration should not be selective and limited to Obasanjo, a thorough probe of Abacha's administration SHOULD be carried out to investigate Abacha,s contribution to Energy and Power, the NNPC, the Nigerian Railways, Ajaokua Steel Project, the Petroleum Development Fund, the Nigerian Airways Corporation. This administration SHOULD also probe the Babangida,s administration very thoroughly and the probes SHOULD be extended to the administration of General Buhari and the administration of President Shehu Shagari. On very thorough analysis, the debiliating and the GREATEST PROBLEM OF NIGERIA as a country is ETHNIC OR TRIBAL INTOLERANCE. CORRUPTION is just a side effect and consequence of the very PERVASIVE ETHNIC INTOLERANCE. It should be remembered that the first military coup resulted from ethnic intolerance and so was the second military coup and the subsequent Kano riots that eventually all lead the civil war. The vestiges of the civil war is felt all over the country now and, together with the all pervading very strong ethnic resentment in the country and strogly in the polity, they show up as the constant pipeline vandalism, attacks on oil installations, kidnappings etc. However, the most disturbing aspects of these phenomena are their very bright colours showing up in the very high places. A good example is the statement made by President Yar'Adua that $10b was spent by the former administration with nothing to show for it. Then the former president came out to say that the money spent by his adminstration on power projects including letters of credit was $6.5b and there was an additional 2000MW of power to the grid as a result. These are very conflicting statements by two Presidents who should normally work together for the good of the country. ARE THE CONTRADICTORY STATEMENTS BY THESE PRESIDENTS COLOURED BY ETHNIC INTOLERANCE?
