I visited Ethiopia in 2007. On my trip from Addis to Jimma, from the air, I noticed a great river. I have often though of the transformation that would take place if a system of canals and controlled sub-water ways was developed, to provide water for farm irrigation. It would sure go a long way to lessen the dependence on rain. I am a part time farmer here in California. I use a similar system when ever needed. Can you comment on why this has not been looked at or if I am just being naive? Thanks
