Liberia: 'Prince Johnson Claims Are Bogus', Doe's Family Denies Reconciling Abroad - The Analyst

Unearthing the past to chart the future with a mindset of purity is the goal sought through the current reconciliation processes in the country. But achieving that goal is no easy task as harsher feelings still persist within various quarters of Liberian society.

Be as it may, I believe Doe (his family) and his associates have a lot of reconciling to do. The years or torment levied against our people do not in any form parallel his slaying. No one needs to reconcile with anyone on Liberian soil to gain some substantiation. If they want to make amends with Johnson, then so be it! Frankly, I don't know of any Liberian that gives a flying hoot whether or not Johnson reconciles with Doe's family.

Liberians need to put our differences aside and move forward with our continued developments. As a nation, we survived Doe, Taylor and Johnson!

I am amazed at what I have just read.I will be pleased to know how many families have the Doe family reconcile with. George Wright and the Doe family should stop complaining about reconciliation with Prince Johnson.Does it really matter where Senator Johnson apologise to the Doe family? What goes around comes around.During the Doe regime we all know what happened. So George Wright please "Don't leave an elephant meat and throw a stone at a bird".Simply "If you live in a glass house you don't throw stones" A hint to a wise is enough.

In addition to your comment, there should not be reason for now to try anyone be commander or fighter that should be head accountable for the ignorant war.how would you set up the commission in devastated environment, liberians displaced across the globe and our young girls forced into prostitution for survival in exile ,we all felt the pain of ignorance which continues to trail us years after the notorious war.Liberians need to embrace peace for now in the new dimension to sustain our fragile peace earned hard.We should concentrate on the way forward with steadfastness and unity we can be at whole again.Let all grieved person looks unto the future of Liberia. If such measures is implemented to investigate the past that might arouse the sleeping dead.

S.Waylee, I strongly recommend that you look up the definition of the word "patriotic". Samuel Doe is came to power with the entire nation bahind him. He had the opportunity to transform leadership in ways that liberians have not seen. Instead, he surrounded himself with extremist who turned he (Doe)into a fierce tyrant. It was Doe's actions that produced individuals like Prince Johnson, Fahnbulleh and other advocates arm struggles. I do not regret the killing of a tyrant (Doe). What I regret is that he was not killed soon. Look S.Waylee, I am a realist and a no nonsens liberian. I strongly believe that extremism against a tyrant is not a vise, but a virtue. Yes, Doe was killed, but it was due to his own arrogance and greed. Had he left liberia he would have been alive. He chose to die and die he did.

George Wright is attempting to seek attention for himself. I do not believe that his statement represents the collective view of the Doe family. At least Prince Johnson had the courage to apologize to the Doe family, something that Doe family have yet to do to thousands of Nimba families who lost their lives as a result of wanton killing unleashed on them by Samuel Doe's death squads.

while we all want peace and reconciliation, i think it will be stupid for anyone to criticize mr.george wright for his stand on the issue between the DOE's family and mr.johnson.in my views i think and it is reasonable that the best place to really reconcile any differences is right there in liberia where thousbands of people were killed including president DOE the most patriotice leader our nation ever had since it came to birth. mr.prince johnson have been going around making all sorts or remarks partaining to DOE and his family and so i think it will be wise indeed for any sensible liberian to note that prince johnson is one of thus who came in the name of freedom fighter and kill women, children and committed the worst crime in our country's history and he should be greatful to GOD that we liberian have forgiven him for the sake of peace.and to thus who continue to criticize president DOE,i think DOE will forever be remembered for the love and good work he did for our country and pls think twice and compare the time of president DOE and that of freedom fighter taylor and ELEN JOHNSON.we were in peace and everone has something doing been a educated man or not during the regime of DOE but today the poor man continue to be poor, the richs continue to be richs, our beautiful women become the worst prostitudes all over the world and parents can not efford school fees for thier children so pls leave DOE alone and focus on the present difficulties our nation and its people are going through just because of few hands full of people stupidness and power grief. from sam waylee in doha.qatar.

You have forced me to comment on the topic of the late Doe and Mr. Johnson. No there is no need for anyone to point finger. There shall be no room for the past to be brought into our current of affair or situation, as we all try to let go. However, the gentleman and the Doe's family spokeman, Mr. Wright, should pause and think about what he (Doe) did to the 13 innocent men that were murdered without trial, the killing of the people from Nimba, and so many others, etc. Did the Doe's family ever offered an apology to those families that killed at the president's command? Nor did those families demanded an apology? If you think for a second, that a man (Doe) who tortured so many innocent, drove many more into exile, initiated ethnic killings, etc., can be called the most patriotic leader in the history of Liberia, then my friend, you better take a good look at the meaning of the word (PATRIOTIC), again!

This is no time to cast blame but to set forth our national interest. Let us join hands across the world to rebuild our nation. Let us stop and extend our helping hands to those who are helpless. Let us support any leader of our nation who has and shows national interest. Let us learn to distant our minds and thoughts from those things that would drive us back into the state of destructions. It is time to HAIL OUR NATION!

GOD BLESS OUR NATION AND OUR LEADERS!

it is true that he that lives in a glass house needs not throw stones. the family of Doe should accept their fate as one of the Liberian family who will never have the opportunity of getting an apology, we all know what happen in Liberia and as a family doe was not working in isolation. as a family you all saw how he govern the country so weather prince Johnson apologizes or not it makes no difference now, if you all are sincere you should watch the video of the war then and only then would you realized those who really need to be apologized to.

I am astonished at your assertion, George Wright. Shame on you, for being a proud member of the Doe family and publicly putting up a strong defense for the late tyrant and a notorious killer Doe.Young man, as was stated in one of the commentaries , what does it matter to appologize to the shameful family of the late bloodhungry and killer Doe? What's so important about the ruthless and santanic life he led? Where in the world were you George Wright when the dog (Doe) masacred thousands of innocent women, helpless men, and children, including the Luthren Church episode,UN compound, Snipper Hill, just to name a few? Where were you, Mr. "Doe family" Wright, when the dog instructed his killing michinery, Charles Julu, who eliminated very important people(VIP),like DK wonseleah,The Dokies, Eugene Kidu and others in Nimba County? Is Doe a kind of former president that you should be proud of ? Are you member of his former deathsquards who are still determined to take power by force and distabilize the already long-lasting damaded Liberia? Lastly, Mr. Prince Johnson, being a man of God(now)appologized out of good faith, but the loss of Doe's life does not warrant any appology whatsoever to his shameless family like you.If you're living in Liberia alive, you,ve better shout your big mouth and enjoy the corrupt benefits stolen by the late tyrant. I am a fair and straight-forward man; just to let you know. I don't like Prince Johnson either; he's just as guilty, not for stoppong Doe, but for the atrocity he committed againsty other Liberians as well. He needs to be behind bars like the other tyrant Charles Taylor. Thank you Sir.

What in the world will the Doe's family will want to talk about Killing of Doe by Senator Johnson? Have the Doe family forgotten how he (Doe) Killed William R. Tolbert and others including A.B. Tolbert and Varney Demster by berrying them a live? Have the Doe family forgotten how he killed the children of Nimba? The Doe family should reconcized wiht many Liberians including the family of those their son killed starting April of 1980 on to his death. I was 11 years old in April of 1980, born and living in Bensonville and I do remember the morning of April 12,1980.Infact, my parents knew master Sergeant Doe personaly in Bensonville when Tolbert was building the lake which was in 1979 before the AOU Conference Liberia. So just for your the Doe family know that I knew him as a child long before he started killing the Liberian people and we hope it is over and your the family should not try to bring any problems to the Liberian people again, we are tired!

WOW! We need to focus constructing our Nation and forget the past. I can't beleive that there are still people that try to bring stuff up from the past. My people got murdered by Samuel Doe and none of his family have ever say sorry. If Samuel Doe was even alive i bet he would not. Prince Johnson has apologised in Nigeria and i think it's time to move on. Apology can be done anywhere at anytime not only in Liberia. We need to forget about this and surely move on. George Wright you need to find another avenue for your attention. Shame on you.

Look Mr. Wright, this your publicity will surely end on the Krahn people. But I am happy all those who commented so far have not mentioned it. This should indicate to you how much people want to put the war behind us. I am a Krahn man and I will say to you Kanyon was the worst president Liberians ever had. Thousands of innocent Krahn people died as a result of Kanyon's greed. In Grand Gedeh there were two sets of people; the Tuzon Krahn and the Other Krahns + Sapo. Tuzon Krahns were the privileged but all of us paid for the wrong doings of Kanyon and you the greedy few. When the Americans offered to airlift out of Liberia to safety, he demanded that 300 Tuzon Krahns be included. Was this patriotism even amongs the Krahns? You are sitting there as a so-called administrator of Kanyon's estate enjoying yourself while 99.9% of our people are living in tents with no food to eat. Please leave that DRUM because we will not be able to gather the worms if you open it. Remember, Kanyon's children are still alive, Mr. Gravy Seeker-Licker Wright. Idiot.
