South African-born journalist Heidi Holland, author of The Colour of Murder, recently chatted to Penguin about her latest book, Dinner with Mugabe, and gave a short reading from it.

I thought Aka.. was living by what he professed only yesterday, that is to look towards the future. He changes his mind as and when he wants to twist things to prop up lunatic Mugabe whose days are counted.
The world knows sufficiently enough about the past. That is why I also joined in supporting every move to put an end to the injustice perpetrated by the minority regime. Let history books take care of transmitting this knowledge to our kids.
From there to go on defending a hero turned bloodsucker because the lunatic is perpetuating just what was wrong under the minority regime is a terrible blunder Aka.. is committing.
How do you get the cheek Aka.. to praise monster Mugabe and at the same time call Tsvangirai your "good man" ?

Akaporubbish , if you knew African history as we do at the Think Tank , you would know how your people stole the land from the Sans (Bushman) who were there long before your umbilical cord bled in the soil and robbed from any other tribe you could , selling our fellow African brothers into slavery , check your history ! You forget Rhodes negotiating with the great Lobengula, not a sniveler like Harare, land was opened , if the whites stole the land , so did your ancestors ! Get over your stupid hatred ! Of course I am just an honest till operator !
l think Hiedi Holland has done a fantastic Job, now we the 'natives' can look at some of the people you mentioned, and we can investigate how they affected what is now happening in Zimbabwe.
Firstly, contrary to what you say your motivation was in writing this book, you would have asked yourself "will it sell"?. I think you have been as objective as you can be and l also believe you understand what being African is, by how you approached certain sensitive issues. Having said that many people have come to Zimbabwe and found where the leak is and offered us the latest in leak detecting kit when all we needed was a plumber.
Very funny inddeed that you have not written a book about the racist colonial leadership whose politics messed a lot of us natives. For example: Hendriek verwoerd, the BOTHAs, Mallan, Field, Ian Smith, "Boss" Lilford, Cecil John Rhodes, the man who dished out land that did not belong to him. How about the history of land distribution and property ownership in Rhodesia and the Acts of parliament which were passed for the purpose. How were they responsible for the attitudes fo us Africans towards so called 'white' farmers. Explain why Mugabe was only able to vote when he was 60 years old. How about 'CHIBARO, a policy of forced labour which was to obtain free labour throughout Rhodesia. OOOH please write for us about your own people.
