I am sure there are lots of examples on peaceful ways of seceding without bloodshed - Nigeria just ceded Bakassi to Cameroun peacefully. But then, how many western Presses carried that story. The world paid little or no attention to that good news because they prefer seeing Africans killing each other. The current arm-stockpiling by Sudan is wonderfully good news to the ears of multinational gun dealers and manufacturers to make sweet money while ignorant Africans keep buying arms from them to kill each other year after year. Little wonder the West were reluctant to provide (FREE) logistical support (such as helicopters and adequate ground transportation) to the AU Peacekeepers that volunteered last year to serve in Sudan. Same thing in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Congo, etc. The West's tacit message was for the African countries like my native Nigeria to fund the purchase of that logistical support from that poor country's meager budget. Africans, lets make peace and not war. The same pretenders that have feigned concern about Africa's un-ending wars are actually behind the scheme to push wars on Africans. Remember the British shameful legacy of "divide & rule" designed to play one African country against the other, like the devil, as is done recently in Zimbabwe then turned around to blame the victim or starve them to death with sanctions and gleefully watch inflation in the thousand percentile while labeling their African leader - Mugabe - as a monster until the Africans learn to obey the Whiteman - with a veiled threat that this is what will happen to other bad-boys of Africa that deigned to think for themselves. Today, it is Zimbabwe; tomorrow could be Nigeria or Kenya or South Africa. Why we keep falling into these same traps over and over again since "independence" beats me.
