Dan Lartey, 74, was the presidential candidate for the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) and considered himself a follower of Ghana's independence fighter and first president, Kwame Nkrumah. His oft-repeated political slogan - "In with domestication, out with liberalisation!" - became the butt of many jokes. But it did give Lartey instant name recognition.
