In line with efforts to meet readers' demands and bequeath the historical legacy of the Eritrean people to the young generation, Hidri Publishers and the Awghet Bookshop recently launched a book in English titled "The Tenacity and Resilience of Eritrea." The book highlights the Eritrean people's bitter armed struggle for independence.

Speaking at the launching ceremony at the Emba-Soira Hotel, the author of the book, Dr. Tekeste Fekadu, noted that he was inspired to write the book by the fact that it is the responsibility of every citizen to document and highlight the unparalleled history of the Eritrean freedom fighters steadfastly overcoming the hardships and challenges in the days of the armed struggle for independence.

Mr. Kidane Woldeyesus, who reviewed the book, on his part stressed the significance of writing a book of this type in enriching world history in general and that of the Eritrean armed struggle in particular. In this respect, he called on the youth to read the book so as to enrich their understanding of the nation's rich history.

The book also sheds light on the major role Eritrean women fighters played in the armed struggle for independence. The book, launched at a time when preparations are in full swing to colorfully celebrate the 17th Anniversary of the Eritrean Independence Day, would make due contribution in bequeathing the country's rich history to the young generation.
