Singida — A 30-year old man Baraka Kombe, 22, of Unyankindi, Singida will spend the next 30 years in prison for raping his former girlfriend.
The Singida resident magistrate's court found the mechanic guilty of raping his ex-girlfriend, 19, on May 21 2006.
Prosecution officer Philipo Mzirai told the court that the accused committed the offence in Unyankindi after he met his former girlfriend near his home.
He took her into his room where he forced the girl into having sex, threatening to kill her with a machete if she refused.
Mr Mzirai said after committing the offence the accused fell asleep. The girl escaped and reported to her sister who took her to the police.
The victim confessed to her sister that her attacker had been her boyfriend for the past two years.
Meanwhile, two three-year old kids, Athumani Jumanne and Ezekiel Mohamed of Kinyampundu village in Irambda district died after bees attacked them on Monday.
Police said the kids, who were on their way from visiting their grandmother a few metres away from their home, had provoked the bees by throwing stones at them.The kids were rushed to hospital but died later.
In related incidents, Daudi Mwinguru, 9, drowned in a water pool in Shelui village of Iramba district on May 13, while Juma Mohamed of Isuna 'A' village in Singida district was mauled by a lion while on his way back from a miller.

I would guess that in order to be 30 and 22 at the same time he must be what we call a multi-tasker! What I wonder about is that anyone in Africa has ever actually served a long sentence for rape before? Thanks, Casey USA
