Reports in a South African publication say that Botswana's President Ian Khama has threatened to take action against Zimbabwe if southern African leaders don't address the political crisis.

At a business conference in Botswana's capital Gaberone, Khama said that SADC must "become proactive in the crisis" in Zimbabwe, adding; "We are still part of SADC," but he did not specify exactly what action Botswana would consider taking.

There are an estimated 50,000 Zimbabwean refugees in Botswana, according to Botswana's Defense Minister, Ndelu Seretse.

I find it very silly for anybody to even suggest that Botswana's action against Zimbabwe could yield any meaningful results. On a military front Botswana is a toddler, they never saw war and they want to practice on Zim. Thank goodness the article being commented on here never mentioned war. We appreciate their assistance and applaud them for opening their borders for our people. However, any action they might think of taking will yield nothing as always. Even SADC doesn't take them seriously when they are being used to play someone else's game. It is supposed to be a rich... [Read Full Text]

SW Radio from London does Zimbabwean free spirit and pro-good election people no good. As usual full of anglo propaganda that does not make sense and the information provided has not been reported in any of the other independent media. The article is total rubbish. Fighting for justice involves telling the truth...otherwise you open the doors for Mugabe's propaganda machine that does much better that SW radio. Please keep your rubbish in London, not in Africa.

this is what we need to hear from a responsible leader, that atleast somebody is concerned about peoples welfare somewhere, and not just concerned but also mapping the best plan to save the situation. ride on on your excellency, we are firm behind you.

That Botswana is going to punish Zimbabwe! That is rubbish. The day Botswana fires a single cannon the whole country will be in Zimbabwe hands. Francisis town is entirely run by Zimbabweans. Khama is going to mobilize Zimbabweans in Botswana to attack Zimbabwe! If Zimbabweans are afraid in Zimbabwe, do you real expect them to join Botswana army to attack Zimbabwe..What a crazy article and flat out lies and "anglo-white" typical propaganda. SW Radio must be on banja!!

Phiri, you are jumping to conclusions and getting all excited because you do not read properly. The report said that Botswana had NOT decided what action to take on Zimbabwe. By "taking action" it doesn't mean that they are going to attack militarily. You are also very arrogant - quote: "The day Botswana fires a single cannon the whole country will be in Zimbabwe hands" You silly man, look around you, how many friends does Mugabe have these days? Botswana is a peace loving country which has many friends who would come to its aid in times of crisis, so... [Read Full Text]

I may have to agree with Phiri.I read the article on Bloomberg and the term action is the journalists word. Their qoute on Khama has nothing to do with the word action. Media sensetionalism going on here. Secondly, Botswana does not have any military capacity or any kind of capacity to do anything to Zim. RSA has historically and today yields the biggest influence on the events in Zim. So to think Botswana can do anything is day dreaming. Is our desperation for change driving us to read what we want to read when we know that on a practical... [Read Full Text]

Why are you arguing with this fool. Can't you see he is a Zim government hack. Probably was placed here by the Zim Central Intelligence to confuse the people. Phiri you are not tricking anyone. The question is when the revolution comes are you going to be crying in Zimabawe that you were forced to spread such propoganda as the masses necklace your wife and children? I hope that day never comes. Even though your profit off the backs of your brothers. Botswana has been relatively good to Zimababweans. They haven't treated them like South Africans who only talk about... [Read Full Text]
