They ended second and third in the just-ended 49th Elite One Championship.

Despite having failed in their attempt to grab the 2007 -2008 MTN Elite One championship title, Canon of Yaounde and Union of Douala will represent Cameroon in the different continental club competitions. While the Canon alias "Kpa Kum" will be engaged in the Champions League alongside champion Cotonsport, the "Nassara Boys" of Douala, will compete for the CAF cup trophy.

To grab the two prestigious continental tickets, Canon's management, headed by former Indomitable Lions captain Abega Theophile, registered 54 points, won 16 matches, drew six, lost ten, conceded 21 goals and scored 31. A performance considered by many bookmakers as outstanding if one considers the several internal administrative wranglings that plagued the club in the course of the championship and the constant departure of players for greener pastures.

On the other hand, Union of Douala deserves a pat- on- the-back. After spending months at the tail of the league table occupying the 11th position after 20 days of play, due mostly to poor technical management, club President Michel Kamdem was courageous enough to inject new blood and discipline into the team. Several weeks after this decision, the fruits are there. The club has ended third on the unofficial league table with 48 points, after registering 12 victories, 12 draws, seven defeats, scored 29 goals and conceded 20 goals. With the second best attack of the championship, it is expected that Union will go beyond the qualifying phase of the CAF cup like Astres did last year.
