Cameroon: Forestry - New Officials Urged to Mobilise Finances

Newly appointed officials of the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife have been told to embrace the challenge of the mechanism for the financing of activities of the Forest-Environment Sector programme earmarked for 2008.

"I exhort the newly promoted officials to immediately get to work as far as the Forest-Environment Sector programme is concerned", the Secretary of State for Forestry and Wildlife, Joseph Roland Matta, Secretary of State to the Minister of Forestry and Wildlife said yesterday during the installation ceremony.

Six main tasks were assigned to the new Director of General Affairs, Bomba Atangana Guillaume: valorising the building of the wood promotion centre, progressive appropriation of the management of the common fund, qualitative and quantitative improvement in the consumption of budgetary support resources, preparing of the budget of the ministry for 2009, drawing up an expenditure framework for the medium term and an annual action plan for 2008.

The same instructions were given to the new head of the Division for Cooperation and Programming, Batoum Thémotio.
