Supersport United have closed the door on former Kaizer Chiefs' striker Shaun Bartlett, who was training with the Premiership champions since he left Naturena.

Matsatsantsa coach Gavin Hunt says they had hoped that one of their strikers would be leaving and this would open a door for Bartlett, however this has not materialised as yet.

"We wanted to sign Bartlett, but unfortunately we have enough strikers as no one has left," Hunt told KickOff.com.

Hunt did not elaborate on whether Supersport's decision was based on the fact that there has been no finality yet on Katlego Mashego's proposed move to Maccabi Haifa in Israel or whether they want to keep Bartlett on a string with the transfer window coming to an end soon.

Hunt also told KickOff.com that both Rene Richards and Lucky Mhlathe, who were training with the Absa Premiership champions, are not in his plans for the new season.

"Richards and Mhlathe were here, but I am not interested in signing them," he said curtly.
