The participants of the Regional Youth Conference on Peace and Development stressed the need for the youth to enhance mutual cooperation and coordination so as to promote peace in the Horn of Africa.

They told ERINA that provided the communities in the region foster common vision and march together, as well as share experience, there would exist no room for interference by external forces in the internal affairs of a given country and dictate their interest.

One of the participants, Mr. Cyer Rihan, who attended the conference representing the SPLM Youth League, noted the significance of the agenda topics discussed at the conference and called on youths in the region to strive for effectively organizing and raising the awareness of the people through identifying the root cause of conflict in the Horn region.

Mr. John Ndichu from the Kenyan Mathare Youth Sports Association on his part stated that the desire and dedication of youths is decisive to tackle the existing challenges and problems in the region. Stating that the regional conference provided a forum for youths to discuss their issues together, he said that the conference was special, as it was held in Eritrea which is an example of self-reliance. Mr. John also expressed admiration to the unity and harmony of the Eritrean people, as well as the dedication of its leadership.
