When Zimbabwean midwife Clara Methie isn't at the bedside delivering babies, she's lobbying administrators to provide basic resources like - sterile gloves. Clara says to improve maternal death rates on the global level, midwives must be empowered to find their voices and push for change on the institutional and national level. In preparing the world's midwifes to play a greater role in policy dialogues, GE Healthcare is joining forces with UNFPA and the United Nations Population Fund to launch an online midwifery training, mentoring and networking platform to connect more than 700 midwives from 30 countries.
