Ghana Gets a Much-Needed Power Project Off the Ground
2014 to 2016 in Ghana were the "Dumsor" years - a term Ghanaians call a period in which darkness is more prevalent than light. It was a power outage crisis brought on by drought, low water levels and other problems affecting the country's powerplants. Recently GE and the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, broke ground to formally launch the construction of the Bridge Power Project - a 400MW greenfield liquified petroleum gas (LPG) project and world's largest power plant of its kind will be built near the Tema Oil Refinery.
