Washington, DC — The Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) will host its flagship Biennial U.S.-Africa Business Summit on June 13-16, 2017 in Washington, DC. The 2017 U.S.-Africa Business Summit will be CCA's 11th Summit and first major conference under the leadership of new President and CEO, Florizelle Liser.

The decision to bring the Summit, which is hosted alternatingly in Africa and the United States, back to Washington, DC was strategic. The conference will present one of the first opportunities for private sector leaders and African governments to interact with the new White House administration and it is expected to attract more than 1,000 attendees.

New Offerings in 2017
Under Ms. Liser's leadership, the CCA Summit will have a strong focus on transactional results and solutions-driven dialogue. Networking remains the primary reason hundreds of guests register to attend CCA's U.S.-Africa Business Summit and at the 2017 Summit, CCA plans to enhance business-to-business linkages and business-to-government meetings through small, intimate sector and country-specific roundtables and streamlined private meetings via the conference app.

The structure of the conference is also new. Unlike previous years, each day of CCA's 2017 U.S.-Africa Business Summit will have an overarching theme. Day one will focus on Navigating the African Market; day two will examine Africa and its role in the Global Supply Chain; and day three will explore Regionalization and the Future of Africa. On each day, industry-specific sessions will engage in conversations and proffer solutions to the most critical issues on the continent related to these topics.

CCA will also feature a new exhibition opportunity called the Solutions Center at the conference. The Solutions Center will feature companies and organizations that have innovative solutions, ideas or opportunities for investors in agribusiness, energy, infrastructure, technology, health, tourism, trade and investment, finance, capacity building and security sectors. The solutions must be geared towards solving a problem and organization proposals will be reviewed and vetted to ensure that we garner a broad range of companies that are not duplicative.

As mentioned previously, CCA also plans to engage the new Trump Administration to ensure our members and attendees access decision-makers in key U.S. agencies critical to business such as the U.S. Department of Commerce, Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im) and the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

Leading The Way in U.S.-Africa Business
Since 1997, the U.S.-Africa Business Summit has been considered an essential conference for anyone invested and interested in doing business on the continent. Over the last 10 U.S.-Africa Business Summits, CCA has been a one-stop shop to meet business leaders and decision-makers from across Africa, the United States, Europe and Asia and CCA intends to continue this strong tradition. Over 1,000 attendees are expected at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC for the 2017 U.S.-Africa Business Summit.
