Ile Maurice: Natation l 4e journée - Ethan Apollon et Ruslan Nakhuda établissent deux nouveaux records

La journée de samedi a été riche en émotions. Dans la catégorie des 11 ans, Ethan Apollon a réalisé - contre toute attente - un temps record au 200m dos. Quant à Ruslan Nakhuda, il est devenu le nouveau détenteur de la marque du 100m nage libre chez les 13 ans.

Presque à l'issue d'une longue journée, samedi, Ethan Apollon a battu le record des 11 ans au 200m dos. Initialement, son club n'avait pas fait de demande de record pour lui sur cette distance. Mais fort heureusement, comme son temps s'est affiché sur le panneau électronique et que les championnats étaient agréés par World Aquatics, sa performance a été homologuée comme nouveau record national.

Il a nagé en 2 minutes, 47 secondes et 87 centièmes (2:47.87). L'ancienne marque - qui datait de mai 2018 - appartenait à Baptiste Capitte dans le temps de 2 minutes, 48 secondes et 36 centièmes (2:48.36). «Je suis très heureux d'avoir pu réaliser ce record et en suis reconnaissant à mon entraîneur Eddy Rosette», dit le sociétaire du CAMO.

Chez les 13 ans, c'est Ruslan Nakhuda, du Moka Rangers SC, qui a signé un nouveau temps record au 100m nage libre. Ce chrono, il l'a réalisé en tant que premier nageur du relais 4x100m nage libre, pour son club. Il a touché le mur en 58 secondes et 03 centièmes (58.03) soit un centième de mieux que l'ancienne marque - dans cette catégorie d'âge - qui appartenait à Ryan Fook Sheung depuis novembre 1996 (en 58.04). «Je ne m'attendais pas à battre ce record. J'avais un peu ralenti ma course mais j'ai pu tenir jusqu'à la fin. Cette performance me motive à aller plus loin encore dans des compétitions futures. Mon coach, Axel Adam, sait être strict avec les nageurs. Mais à la longue, cela finit par payer, comme aujourd'hui», dit l'élève de l'Ecole du Centre.
