Challenges & Opportunities- #AfricaBizSummit 2022 Concludes

The 14th U.S.-Africa Business Summit concluded in Marrakesh with a closing ceremony addresed by Florie Liser, resident and CEO of the Corporate Council on Africa which organized the event from July 19-22, 2022. Also speaking was Dana Banks, Senior Advisor for the U.S.-African Leaders Summit that was announced on the opening day in a video address by Vice President Kamala Harris. She was introduced by Alice Albright, CEO of the Millennium Challenge Corporation, who led the U.S. delegation.

Over the three days, participants took part in panels focussing on a broad range of sectors with opportunities for expanding business engagement across the continent. Sessions include financing, climate, agricultural transformation, investing in woman, health outcomes and economic integration and the African Continental Free Trade Area. Senior leaders from the U.S. and African private sector and civil society are taking part along with African and U.S. government officials.

Among those who spoke during the Summit: African Development Bank President Dr. Akinwumi A. Adesina; Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and Chakib Alj, president of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises; Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi; Ghana's Trade and Industry Minister Alan Kyerematen; Carole Kariuki, CEO, Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA); Travis Adkins, President and CEO, U.S. African Development Foundation; Leslie Marbury, Acting COO, Prosper Africa;Wamkele Mene, Secretary General, AfCFTA Secretariat.
