Le président Kaberuka rencontre le sénateur David Mark, président du Sénat, Nigeria

An African Development Bank (AfDB) delegation, led by President Donald Kaberuka, met on 24 November 2010 Senator David Mark, president of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The delegation wanted to listen and learn from him on the current business environment in Nigeria.

"We are here to listen and to learn from you on how we can better serve the country in achieving its 2020 development plan objectives", said President Kaberuka.

The president of the Senate, Hon. David Mark commended Mr. Kaberuka's achievement during his first tenure and congratulated him for his reelection for a second five year term. He explained Senate concerns about debt management. He noted that the country needs in infrastructure is huge and requires major investments, from both public and private sector.

Before meeting President David Mark, President Kaberuka met Hon. Rep John Owan Enoh, Chairman of the Committee on Finance of the House, representing Hon. Oladimeji Bankole, to discuss Nigerian borrowing plans. During the meeting, Hon. Bankole welcomed the Bank delegation and exchanged views on Nigeria's development prospects. Hon. Sabo Nakudu, chairman of the Anticorruption committee, Hon. S.A Egya, chairman of the Governance committee, Rt Hon. Friday Itulah, Jp, deputy chairman, Aids, Loans and Debt management took part in the meeting..

On behalf of Hon. Bankole, Hon. John Enoh expressed a vote a thanks to President Kaberuka for his brilliant reelection for a second term. "We request AfDB support in our efforts at economic recovery," he said.

In response to Hon Chairman Enoh, Mr. Kaberuka commended the efforts made by Nigerian authorities for more accountability and transparency. "We fully support Nigeria debt management efforts, as well as its efforts to diversify its economy and achieve its 2020 development vision", concluded Mr. Kaberuka.

The AfDB delegation comprised Elisha Sulai, adviser to the executive director representing Nigeria and Sao Tome & Principe; J. litse, director, country operations, J. Baffoe, ag resident representative, F. Nkulikiyimfura, special assistant to the President and M. Wade, communication expert.
