Fragile states face unique governance, financial, and institutional challenges that undermine their stability and economic progress. Recognizing the urgency of these issues, the African Development Bank has supported the development of National Capacity Development Strategies -- locally driven frameworks that reinforce institutional resilience, enhance policy efficiency, and empower governments to lead their own development pathways.

The African Development Institute is pleased to announce an upcoming "Dissemination Workshop on National Capacity Development Strategies for the Central African Republic, Guinea-Bissau, Somalia, and South Sudan".

This workshop represents a critical opportunity to share the insights gained through extensive consultations with national stakeholders, international partners, and technical experts. Participants will engage in meaningful discussions on strengthening governance, promoting inclusivity, and mobilizing resources to drive impactful change. Discussions will also center around the enhancement of policy dialogue via the creation of a platform for government officials, development partners, and civil society to exchange insights on capacity development and policy implementation.

The workshop aims to facilitate regional cooperation by strengthening collaboration among African nations to develop sustainable approaches for managing institutional fragility.

The national capacity development strategies were developed with support from the Transition States Coordination Office, the United Nations Development Programme and the World Bank Group.
